Laxmi’s offering of Indian nuts includes everything from the traditional to the exotic. Among our selection of Indian nuts are almonds, pistachio nuts, char magaz, peanuts and cashews, providing just the right snack for any occasion, as well as being staples of Indian dishes and Indian cuisine.
  • Laxmi: Almonds

    The fruit of the almond is not a true nut, but a drupe, consisting of an outer hull and a hard shell with the seed inside. Shelling almonds refers to removing the shell to reveal the seed. Almonds are commonly sold shelled, or unshelled.

    Golden raisins are made from sultanas, treated with sulfur dioxide (SO2), and flame-dried to give them their characteristic color. A particular variety of seedless grape, the Black Corinth, is also sun-dried to produce Zante currants, miniature raisins that are much darker in color and have a tart, tangy flavor.
